Crimestoppers Appeal in relation to the Armed Robbery of a Bookmaker at Dundalk Stadium on the 28th October 2011.
Crimestoppers has today launched an appeal for information in relation to the armed robbery of the bookmaker at Dundalk Stadium on the night of Friday 28th October, 2011.
On Friday 28th October, 2011 the injured party attended a race meeting that was taking place at Dundalk Stadium, Inner Relief Road, Dundalk, Co Louth. There was a total of 8 races, commencing at 6p.m., with the last race going to post at 9.15pm.
After the 9.15p.m. race, the injured party left the stadium and went alone to the car park. He was carrying a bookmaker’s leather holdall bag, which was described as new, in good condition and black in colour. This bag contained a substantial amount of cash. Two men wearing balaclavas ordered the injured party to drop the bag, and he noticed that one was in possession of an two foot long iron bar, and the other had a double barrel sawn off shotgun. The injured party was aware that 2 other men pushed him towards the armed suspects. He did not see these two men.
A man (early 60s) heard a commotion near by and went to assist the injured party and chased both males who got into what he describes as a dark coloured car. The vehicle then drove out of the car park, using the back exit, at speed.

An appeal for information, in conjunction with Crimestoppers will take place this evening at Dundalk Race Course during the race meeting scheduled to take place from 5p.m. to 10p.m. Uniform and Detective members will be present at the race course to give out leaflets and speak with any persons who may have information to pass onto An Garda Siochana.
