Gardai have carried out a search and arrest operation in Co. Cork as part of an ongoing Fraud investigation.
The investigation surrounds alleged fraud in relation to mortgage loans secured on a number of properties in the Munster area.
The searches were carried out by detectives attached to the Fraud Investigation Unit based in Anglesea Street Garda Station assisted by local Garda Units at locations across Co. Cork this morning (29/5/2013).
During the searches 4 males and 2 females (ranging in age from 20s-40s) were arrested. They are currently detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007, at a number of Garda Stations in Co. Cork.
A large amount of documentation along with computers, storage devices and phones were seized during the operation. Cannabis plants with an estimated street value of €5,000 (pending analysis) were also recovered at one of the locations.
Enquiries are ongoing and no further information is available at this time.
