Gardai are appealing for witnesses following a fatal shooting at Gormanston, Co. Meath on the 6th March 2013.
Shortly after 2p.m. this afternoon (6/3/2012) a man aged in his 30's drove into the car park at the Huntsman Inn, Gormanston. A second car entered the car park a few minutes later. The man was confronted by the occupants of the second car as he walked across the car park and shot a number of times. The assailants fled the scene in a car which on leaving the car park turned left. The car was intercepted by Gardai on the Balscadden Road a short time later.
Four males aged in their 20's were arrested by Gardai. A firearm (handgun) was recovered and the car seized. A fifth man aged in his 40's was also arrested near to the scene a short time later.
The men are currently detained at a number of north Dublin Garda Stations under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939.
A preliminary examination has been carried out by the Deputy State Pathologist and a full forensic and technical examination of the scene is currently underway. A post mortem examination is due to take place at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, tomorrow. (7th March 2013)
An incident room has been established at Laytown Garda Station. A number of people have come forward to assist in this investigation and gardai are continuing to appeal for information. Gardai in particular are appealing to anybody in the vicinity of the Huntsman Inn between 1p.m. and 2.30p.m. this afternoon (6/3/2013) to contact them.

Gardai are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding a shooting incident at Gormanstown, Co. Meath, on the 6th March 2013.
