As a result of ongoing investigations into criminal activity in the Coolock area, Gardai in Coolock stopped and searched a male 18yrs at Ferrycarrig Park, Coolock at approximately 6pm on the 12th June 2013.
While searching the male the Gardai discovered a suspected explosive device(subject to ballistic examination). The device was isolated and the immediate area evacuated. The EOD were requested and after examination, they took the device from the scene for further examination.
The male was arrested and taken to Coolock Garda station where he is being detained under the provisions of section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 as mended.
