Gardaí at Portlaoise, County Laois, are investigating a single vehicle, fatal road traffic collision which occurred at Knockaroo, Borris in Ossory, County Laois, on the M7 southbound on Sunday the 21st July 2013 at approximately 6.40am.
A male, 45 years, was fatally injured when the vehicle he was driving collided with the crash barriers on the M7. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The deceased was removed to Midlands Hospital Portlaoise where a post mortem will take place on the 22nd July 2013.
The road was closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators the road has since re-opened.
