The post mortem examination on the bodies of two people discovered in Carlow on the 25th February 2013, being carried out by Deputy State Pathologist Dr. Michael Curtis, have concluded.
Both deceased died as a result of gunshot wounds.
The dead man and woman have been identified as 53 year old John Deegan from Cadamstown, Birr, Co. Offaly and 51 year old Deirdre Keenan of Carragh Road, Naas, Co. Kildare.
Gardai are appealing to anyone who was in the area of Centaur Street between 10p.m and 1 p.m. on Monday 25th February, 2013 who may have seen anything unusual to contact Carlow Garda Station at 059 - 9136620, the Garda confidential line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station. Gardaí also believe the couple travelled in the Wexford area on Wednesday and Thursday, 20th and 21st February, and would like to hear from anyone who may have had contact with them.

Gardai in Carlow are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery to two bodies at a premises at Centaur Street, Carlow Town at approximately 1.30 pm today Monday, 25th February 2013.
A male and female, both believed to be in their 50's, were discovered in a room at the premises. The bodies remain at scene, which has been preserved.
The Garda Technical Bureau and the State Pathologist Office, Dr. Curtis are both at scene. The post mortems are scheduled to take place tomorrow morning Tuesday 26th February, 2013 at Naas General Hospital.
Gardai are appealing to any persons who were in the area of Centaur Street between 10p.m. last night and 1 p.m. today 25th February, 2013 who may have seen anything unusual to contact Carlow Garda Station at 059 - 9136620, The Confidential Line 1 800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
