Gardaí at Gurranbraher Cork have arrested a man following an assault of a taxi driver and the hijack of his car at Lower Killeens Blarney Cork.
The incident occurred at 1.30am on the 24th December 2013 when a taxi driver (early 70s) picked up two men at Dillons Cross. While heading in the direction of Cork City the driver was threatened, and then assaulted. The offenders removed the driver from the vehicle at a service station on the Carrigohane Straight and drove off in the car.
They subsequently crashed at Lower Killeens a short time later. One man was arrested at the scene, while the other fled the scene on foot. The man (early 30's) is currently detained at Gurranbraher Garda Station under sect 4 CJA.
The taxi driver was taken to CUH with a facial injury and released a short time later.
