Press Conference at Swords Garda Station and Checkpoint on the M1 Motorway.
As part of the Garda Christmas enforcement campaign, DMR Traffic will carry out a Motorway Operation on the M1 Wednesday 11th December 2013. The operation will commence at 14.00hrs and terminate at 15.00hrs.
The aim of this Motorway Operation is to police the M1 network by a short but intensive high visibility policing.
The objective of this operation is to increase the awareness of fatal and serious road traffic injury collisions. Within the DMR a total of 18 lives have been lost in fatal road traffic collisions and increase of eight on this date last year. National figures will also be provided at the briefing.
This Roads Policing Operation will specifically target a number of road traffic offences including impaired driving, speeding, lane discipline and breaches of the Road Traffic Act with a view to detecting and deterring inappropriate driver behaviour.
The media briefing will commence at 2pm in Swords garda station and transfer to the checkpoint site on the M1 Motorway at 2.20pm.
