Firearm, drug seizure and arrest in Edgeworthstown, Longford on the 5/12/13

A man in his late 20s is due to appear in Athlone District Court this morning 6th December 2013 at 10.30am, charged in relation to the discovery of a firearm and drugs at a house in Edgeworthstown, Co. Longford.

Gardaí carried out a planned search of the house yesterday afternoon, 5th Dec, at about 4pm.  During the course of the search they discovered a 9mm pistol and a small quantity of drugs, believed to be cocaine, cannabis and crystal meth. 
 

A 28 year old man was arrested at the scene and detained at Longford Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against The State Act, 1939.
