Gardai in Banagher are investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the Ballycumber Road (R436) approximately 2km East of Ferbane at about 4pm this afternoon.
A female in her late 40’s was fatally injured when her car lost control and left the road. She was the sole occupant and no other vehicles were involved. She was pronounced dead at the scene and her body has been removed to The Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore.
This stretch of road is currently closed pending completion of an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.
