As part of an ongoing operation targeting organised criminal activity in Limerick City, Gardaí from Henry Street this morning (Thursday 15th August) led searches in a number of locations in the city.
Arising from these searches, two males (mid 20's and mid 30's) were arrested and are being detained in Henry Street Garda station under Section 50 Criminal Justice Act, 2007. They can be held for up to seven (7) days.
Items seized during the operation include a firearm (handgun), ammunition and cash along with quantities of cocaine and cannabis (pending analysis).
The searches involved members of the Limerick Divisional Drugs Unit, detectives and Gardaí from both Henry Street and Mayorstone Garda stations, and the Regional Support Unit.
The investigation is continuing.
