GBFI 'Phishing' Warning re emails

The Garda Bureau of Fraud Investigation are advising members of the public not to respond to 'Phishing' emails.

The Bureau are receiving reports daily regarding the theft of money from customers personal bank accounts. Criminal organisations are sending these emails purporting to be from a bank requesting customers to login with all their details including passwords, security codes and mobile numbers. This web page will have the appearance of your banks web-page but it will be one created by the criminals.

To remind people once again - Banks DO NOT and WILL NOT send emails asking you to divulge your security passwords or codes.

Recommendations:

• Do not respond to these emails,

• Do not open them,

• Delete them.

• Report any suspicious activity on your account immediately to your bank.

•  If you are calling your bank by phone, use the phone number on your bank card and not the one shown on a bogus web page.

• If you have been a victim of such a crime, report it to your local Garda Station.
