Gardai investigating a number of serious assaults in Dublin City centre are appealing for witnesses.
The incidents occurred within minutes of each other in the Grafton Street area of Dublin. The first incident happened close to Burger King and Foot Locker on Grafton Street at 1 a.m. on the 16th April 2013. One man, aged 31 years, received a serious stab injury to his chest after being confronted by two men.
The other incident occurred at 1.05 a m on Chatham Row, which is an extension of Chatham Street. A 35 year old man and 22 year old female were assaulted. The man received stab injuries to his back and side and the woman received minor injuries. It is believed that the same suspects were involved in both incidents. Gardai are appealing for witnesses to these two incidents.
A 25 year old man, arrested close to the scene, remains in custody at Pearse Street Garda Station.

Gardai have arrested a man as part of an investigation into a number of serious assaults in the Pearse Street area of Dublin on the 16th April 2013.
At approximately 1a.m. this morning 16th April, 2013 a 31 year old man was discovered with stab wounds on Grafton Street. He was taken by ambulance to St James’s Hospital with serious injuries. Gardai then received a report of a second stabbing incident and assault on Chatham Row. A second man, 35 years was stabbed and a 22 year old female was assaulted. They were removed to St. James's Hospital and are being treated for their injuries.
In a follow up search of the area a 25 year old man was arrested and is currently detained at Pearse Street Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
A number of scenes are preserved and the matter is under investigation.
