As part of an operation targeting criminal activity in the Cavan area, Gardaí have seized a firearm and a quantity of drugs following a search carried out at a vacant house.
The operation was carried out at 2pm on the 15th April 2013 at a house at Garryross, Virginia, Co. Cavan. During the course of the search Gardaí discovered a sub-machine gun and ammunition. They also discovered a quantity of what is believed to be a controlled substance, namely heroin, which subject to analysis may have a street value of up to €750,000.
The firearm and drugs have been removed for technical analysis and the operation is ongoing.
