Gardai have arrested a male in his late 20’s and recovered money stolen following a robbery at the Blackrock Post Office this afternoon.
At approximately 4pm today a lone male entered the Post Office at Blackrock, Co. Dublin and threatened staff with what appeared to be a handgun. There was no one injured and he left the premises with a sum of money. As he attempted to flee the scene he was confronted by local Garda units responding to the robbery and he was arrested on Frascati Road.
The money stolen and what is believed to be an intimation firearm (subject to technical examination) were recovered at the scene of the arrest.
The male is currently detained at Blackrock Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
