Gardai at Anglesea St investigating the serious assault of Pat Deasy which occurred on the 22nd September 2012 have arrested a man in his mid 20's in the Mahon area of Cork this morning shortly after 9am.
The man is currently detained at Bridewell(Cork) Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.

Gardai in Anglesea Street investigating a serious assault that occured at 0.55Hrs on the of morning 22nd September, 2012 at a public house on Avenue De Rennes, Mahon, Cork can confirm that a male, Pat Deasy was pronounced dead this afternoon the 24th Sept 2012 at University Hospital Cork.
The office of the State Pathologist has been notified, investigations are on-going.
We have no indication at this stage as to the time of the post mortem.

Gardai in Anglesea Street are investigating a serious assault that occured at 0.55Hrs this morning 22nd September, 2012 at the Redcove Bar at Avenue De Rennes, Mahon, Cork during which a 57 year old man was assaulted. He was removed to Cork University Hospital, Cork where he remains in a critical condition.
Gardai wish to appeal for witnesses to this incident or to anyone that may have been in the area or the Redcove Bar between 12 midnight and 2 a.m. to contact Anglesea Street Garda Station on 021 - 4522000, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1-800-666-111 or any Garda Station.
