Gardai in Portarlington, Co Laois investigating the murder of Gerard Eglington (27yrs) that occurred in the Kilnacourt Woods Housing Estate this morning at approximately 8.30am today the 24th Sept 2012, are appealing for witnesses;
1. who may have seen unusual or suspicious activity in or around the Kilnacourt Housing estate between 7.30am and 8.30am this morning or in the past number of days.
2.for anyone who may have seen a dark blue Mazda 6 leave the estate at speed shortly after the incident. This car was later discovered burnt out approximately 1km form the scene of the shooting on the Lea Rd.

Both scenes have been preserved for technical examination. The Post Mortem is ongoing at the moment.
