A man in his 40's is due to appear at the Dublin District Court in the Criminal Courts of Justice at 10.30 am on the 19th November charged in relation to an armed robbery in Portmarnock on the 16th November 2012.
At approximately 5.30 pm on the 16th two men entered a financial institution in Portmarnock armed with a firearm and threatened staff before leaving with an amount of cash. On leaving the premises the men were confronted by a Garda on patrol in the area. A number of shots were fired before the men hijacked a motor car and fled the scene. The Garda was uninjured.
The arrested man was detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939, at Coolock Garda Station.
