As part of planned operation, Gardai from Ardee and Dundalk Districts have arrested a male in his early 20's in relation to the fatal shooting of Stephen Hanaphy which occured on the 29th October 2010.
The arrest occured at a house in the Dunleer area at approx 7.30am this morning, the 22nd November 2012. The man is currently detained at Dundalk Garda Station under the provisions of Section 30 Offence Against the State Act 1939 as amended.
Gardai discovered cannabis plants (subject to analysis) with an estimated street value of €3,200 at the property.
During searches of a second property Gardai discovered a large quantity of illegal cigarettes with an estimated loss to the State of €200,000. Also discovered was illegal alcohol and various distilling equipment with an estimated loss to the State of €400,000.
Gardai notified Revenue's Customs Services who are assisting in the investigation.
