Gardai in Claremorris are investigating the circumstances of a fatal shooting incident that occured at Wallpark, Glencorrib, Co. Mayo today Sunday, the 6th May 2012, at approximately 2.15p.m.
One male 71 years received serious injuries in the incident and was removed to Galway Regional Hospital.
The man was pronounced dead a short time ago. Gardai have sealed off the area for a forensic examination, and the services of the State Pathologist have been requested.
Gardai have arrested a man, aged early 30's, who is currently detained under Section 4 of Criminal Justice Acy at Claremorris Garda Station.
