A 47 year old male will appear at a special sitting of Carlow District Court this evening at 7.30pm charged in connection this drug seizure.

As part of an ongoing operation by the Garda National Drugs Unit on the 27th & 28th March 2012 with the assistance of units from Carlow, Naas and Pearse Street Garda Stations, searches were carried out in Naas, Co Kildare resulting in 2 men being arrested following the seizure of Cannabis, subject to analysis.
A number of follow up searches were carried out in Naas and Carlow and a substantial amount of suspected cannabis resin and cannabis herb was discovered. The total amount of drugs seized is believed to be in the region of €2.1 million.
Two men, one 47 year old and one 35 year old, have been arrested under the Misuse of Drugs Act and detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996. They are detained in Naas and Carlow Garda Stations.
The seizure will not be put on display for photographs.
