Gardai are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the death of a 52 year man in Portlaoise on the 10th June 2012.
At approximately 320am (10/6/2012) a man was found lying unconscious at Market Square, Portlaoise. He was taken by ambulance to the Midlands Regional Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The scene remains preserved pending a full technical and forensic examination.
The State pathologist has been notified and a post-mortem examination is due to take place later this afternoon at the Midlands Regional Hospital.
Investigating Gardai is appealing for witnesses an in particular to anybody in the vicinity of Market Square between 3am and 330am this morning to contact them.
