Fatal road traffic collision at Newport, Mayo on the 16/6/12

Gardai at Westport are investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision at Clooneshil, Newport, Co Mayo, on the 16th June 2012.

At approximately 0315 hours a male and a female were injured when the motor car they were travelling in collided with a grass verge at Clooneshil near Newport.  They were taken from the scene by ambulance to Mayo General Hospital.  The man (aged 21 years) was later pronounced dead.

The scene remains preserved pending a full technical examination.
