Murder in Ballyfermot, Dublin on the 28/11/11 - Further arrest

Gardai in Ballyfermot Garda Station investigating the murder of David Darcy on Cherry Orchard Avenue on the 28th November 2011 have made a further arrests in relation to this murder.

A male in his 40’s was arrested on the morning of the 4th January 2011 and detained under the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007 at Ballyfermot Garda Station.  He was released without charge last night and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

A 49 year old female is scheduled to appear before Court No 2 in Criminal Courts of Justice, Parkgate Street at 4.30pm on the 20th December 2011

She is charged in relation to the Murder of David Darcy in Cherry Orchard on the 28th November 2011.

Gardai in Ballyfermot Garda station are investigating the circumstances of of a shooting incident on Cherry Orchard Ave on the 28th Nov 2011 a man(in his late 30's) was fatally injured.

The shooting incident occurred shortly before 7am when a man sitting in a van was shot. His body remains at the scene which has been sealed off for a technical examination. The office of the State pathologist has been contacted.

As part of the murder investigation Gardai are examining a car which was found burned out on Inagh Road, Ballyfermot shortly after the shooting incident this morning. The car, a dark blue Opel Astra 99 CE 3047 was stolen on the 23rd of November 2011.

Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have information in relation to this car’s movements in the last 5 days to contact them.  

In addition Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have seen anything unusual or suspicious on Cherry Orchard Avenue this morning or over the last number of days and also on Inagh Road this morning.  

Gardai would particularly like to appeal to people passing through this area this morning, such as Taxi Drivers, Bus Drivers or people going to work who may be able to assist or to anyone who knows anything about what happened to contact Ballyfermot Garda station on 6667200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
