On Monday, the 23rd January at approximately 12.20pm Gardai from the Dublin Metropolitan Regional Traffic Department based at Dublin Castle stopped a van on the M1 at Lissenhall.
A search of the van uncovered 29 kgs of cannabis herb (street value pending analysis €347,000).
The driver of the van, a Lithuanian national in his late 20's, was arrested and is detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Swords Garda Station. In a follow up search at a house in Tallaght, Dublin 24, Gardai discovered 40 cannabis plants growing in an adapted area in an upstairs room (street value pending analysis €16,000).
The man is expected to appear at Swords District Court later this morning, the 25th January 2012 charged in relation to the incident.
