Over 90 charges have already been preferred against those arrested as part of a major Garda investigation into Drug Trafficking in the Waterford city area.
Gardaí from Waterford Drugs Unit have arrested and preferred charges against 24 people (23 males and 1 female) ranging in age from 17 to 50 years of age in the past 24 hours for involvement in the sale and supply of heroin, MDMA and other controlled drugs.
Over 24 house searches have also been carried out with the assistance of Regional Units and the Garda Dog Unit. A special sitting of Waterford District Court has been arranged this evening at 10pm. Offenders were brought to Dungarvan, Waterford, Tramore, New Ross and Thomastown Garda Stations.
This has been a six month covert operation which has dismantled a number of significant drug distribution networks operating in Waterford city. The Drug Unit based at Waterford Garda station working closely with the Garda National Drug Unit have gathered evidence in relation to drug trafficing.
During the course of searches carried out in the past two days further small amounts of Cocaine and Heroin have also been seized.
