Gardaí from the Garda National Drugs Unit in co-operation with local Drugs Units, the Criminal Assets Bureau and other units from Garda National Support Services are carrying out a series of searches at dwelling houses and businesses in the Dublin area.
The operation began this morning, the 20th February 2012 and has involved in excess of 20 searches and resulted in five arrests. The arrested men range in ages from their mid 20's to mid 30's.
The planned searches are part of an operation targeting organised crime activity, including drug trafficking, firearms offences and money laundering.
The operation is ongoing and further update will be provided.
