Devices and handgun recovered in Kildare on the 16/2/12

As part of ongoing investigations into the activities of Dissident Republicans Gardaí from the Special Detective Unit carried out a search operation in an open area near Celbridge Co Kildare this afternoon (16/2/12).

During the course of the search a handgun and three improvised explosive devices were recovered. The Defence Forces Explosive Ordinance Disposal team were called to the scene and examined the devices. 
 

No arrests have been made and investigations are continuing.
