Two men, aged 33 and 34 years, have been charged in relation to this incident.
They will appear before a special sitting of Longford District Court this evening, Friday 24th February 2012, at 6.30pm.
The third man (29 years) has been released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Gardai are Edgworthstown are investigating the circumstances surrounding a burglary and shooting incident at Kilmoyle, Co. Longford on the 23rd February 2012.
At approximately 6.30am a man, aged in his 30s, disturbed three males on his property at Kilmoyle, Co. Longford. During the incident the property owner discharged a shot from a firearm injuring one of the men. The second male escaped on foot and was arrested a short distance away following a search of the area by Gardai. The third male fled the scene in a van stolen during the incident which contained work tools. He was arrested when Gardai intercepted the van on the N4 a short time later.
The injured man, aged in his 20s, was taken by ambulance to Mullingar Regional Hospital. The two arrested men, also aged in their 20s, are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at Longford Garda Station.
The scene is preserved pending a full technical examination.
Gardai from Granard, Longford, Ballymahon, Roscommon, and the Air Support Unit were involved in the operation.
