As part of an ongoing operation Gardai from Athlone stopped and searched a car on Lyster St, Athlone shortly before 10am this morning the 21st December 2012.
During the course of the search Gardai discovered approx a half a kilo of heroin(pending analysis) with a street value of €75,000. A female 25yrs was arrested and is being detained at Athlone Garda station. During a follow up search of a house at Goldsmith View, Athlone a male 29yrs was arrested and is also being detained at Athlone Garda station, both arrested people are being detained under the provisions of section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 as amended.
