Gardai at Anglesea Street Garda station are investigating an assault which occurred between 12.30am and 1.45am on 28th December 2012 at the junction of Lavitt's Quay and St. Patrick's Bridge, Cork City.
A 36 year old man sustained serious facial injuries and is currently detained at Cork University Hospital. His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
Gardaí believe that the incident involved both males and females who left the scene in the direction of Bridge Street.
Gardai would like to speak with anyone who was in the area of Lavitt's Quay/ St Patrick's Bridge or anyone who may have witnessed the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact Anglesea Street Garda Station- Ph. 021-4522000.
