Gardaí at Enniscorthy Co Wexford are investigating the full circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body of an 84 year old man at a house at Ballyedmond, Monamolin, Co Wexford at approximately 4.50pm yesterday (19/8/12).
The mans body was removed to Waterford Regional Hospital where a full Post Mortem examination took place today by the State Pathologist Professor Marie Cassidy.
It has now been established that the deceased died as a result of Asphyxiation.
The scene has been preserved for a full technical examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.
A 50 year old woman was arrested at the scene (19/8/12) in connection with this investigation and is currently detained at Enniscorthy Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4, Criminal Justice Act 1984.
Investigating Gardaí are appealing for information in relation to this investigation particularly any person who was in the townland of Ballyedmond between the hours of 8am and 5pm on Sunday 19th August 2012 to contact the incident room at Enniscorthy 053-9242580, the Garda Confidential Line 1-800-666-111 or any Garda Station.
