Gardai in Mullingar are investigating a two vehicle Fatal Road Traffic Collision which occurred in the East bound lane of the N4 Dual Carriageway at The Downs, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath on the 8/04/12 at approximately 9pm.
A male in his 80’s who was the driver and sole occupant of one of the vehicles was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and passenger of the second vehicle, a male and female, were taken to the Midland Regional Hospital Mullingar with injuries described as minor.
This stretch of road was closed for a period to allow an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators but has since reopened.
