Gardaí at Roscommon Town are investigating the death of a woman in her late 40’s who was found on the roadway outside a house at The Spinney.
She was the victim of a stabbing incident and her body has been removed to Ballinasloe Hospital for a post mortem scheduled for tomorrow.
A man in his 20’s was arrested at the scene and is currently detained at Roscommon Garda Station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
The incident is believed to have happened at approximately 2.30pm this afternoon, Saturday 17th September 2011.
