Fatal road traffic collision on the N17 in Galway on the 28/10/11

Gardaí in Galway are investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision which occurred at Ballybrit on the N17 Galway to Tuam Road.

The collision occurred at approximately 9.30am this morning (28/10/11) when the driver (52yrs), the sole occupant of the car collided with a wall.  He was taken to University College Hospital, Galway where he was pronounced dead.  No one else was injured in the collision. 
 

The road was closed to facilitate a Garda forensic investigation but has since reopened.
