Two arrested and firearms recovered Co Wicklow

At approximately 11.20am on the 23/11/11 Gardaí carrying out a checkpoint on the N11 at Coynes Cross, Ashford, stopped and searched a motor car.

During the search two firearms (hand guns) were recovered.


The occupants of the car, a man and a woman both aged in their 20,s, were arrested and detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939 at Wicklow Garda Station.


The woman has since been released pending a file to the Director of Public Prosecutions.


The man is expected to appear before a sitting of Bray District Court tomorrow morning (25/11/2011) charged in relation to the incident.
