Gardai in Castlerea are investigating the circumstances of a single vehicle road traffic collision on the Westport to Longford Road on the 25th November 2011.
The collision occurred at approx 4.15 pm on the Westport to Longford Rd(N5) at Carskeagh, Frenchpark. The car collided with a ditch. Both the male driver(53yrs) and the female passenger(65yrs) were both injured in the collision, the female more seriously. They were taken to Castlebar General Hospital where the female was later pronounced dead. The male remains in hospital.
The road was closed for a Forensic collision examination but has now re-opened.
