Gardai investigating the fatal assault on Pearse Street on the 21st November wish to renew their appeal to a taxi driver who picked up 3 males and 1 female on Pearse Street outside the Library at about 12.30am on Monday the 21/11/2011.
It is believed that this taxi dropped the 4 people somewhere near the Dame Street / Sycamore Street junction. Gardai have liaised with the taxi companies but as yet have failed to locate the driver of this taxi.
The investigation team are keen to speak with this taxi driver as he may be in possession of valuable information which can assist their investigation.

The 41 year old man seriously assaulted in an incident in Pearse Street on Monday 21st November 2011 was pronounced dead at St James’s Hospital this afternoon (23/11/11).

The man arrested in relation to this investigation has been released without charge.
A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions and forwarded on its completion.

A man aged in his 20s has been arrested by Gardai investigating a serious assault on a 41 year man at Pearse St, on the 21st November 2011.
He was arrested in the south inner city area yesterday evening and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at Pearse St. Garda Station.

Gardaí are investigating a serious assault that occurred on Pearse Street at approximately 12.20am this morning, Monday 21st November 2011.
Near the junction of Erne Street a 41 year old male taxi driver was attacked by a lone male who left the scene and walked in the direction of Erne Street.
The taxi driver was taken to James’s Hospital where his condition is described as serious.
No arrests have been made and investigations are underway.
A scene was preserved on Pearse Street and the bus lane was closed off but it has since re-opened.
