As the result of an ongoing operation targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs in the Tipperary area Gardaí arrested 2 men yesterday, Wednesday, 3rd November 2011.
At approximately 2.30pm Gardaí from Thurles assisted by Gardaí from the Tipperary Divisional Drugs Unit attempted to stop a car at Pouldine, Thurles. The car failed to stop but was successfully stopped a short distance away on the fly over of the Cork/Dublin motorway.
A 45 year old man was arrested in the car and a 31 year old man was arrested after a short chase on foot. Both are detained at Thurles Garda Station under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act.
Cannabis resin and cocaine with a combined street value of approximately €100,000 was seized – subject to further analysis.
