Gardaí at Castlebar have charged a 25 year old man in relation to an arson attack on the Garda Station this morning, Sunday 20th November 2011.
Shortly after 4am a man entered the public office of Castlebar Garda Station and threw a flaming object towards the public counter. Two members of An Garda Síochána were on duty in the station at the time but nobody was injured.
A man was arrested a short distance away and detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Westport Garda Station.
He will be kept in Garda custody until a court sitting is arranged for the morning.
