In light of the security aspects of the policing operation, the overall situation remains fluid and some detail will still not be forthcoming until closer to Monday/Tuesday of next week.

Our commitment is to continue deliver as much information and clarity as possible as early as possible, within security constraints.

The key message is that Dublin remains open for business next week.

Workers, shoppers, students, people with hospital and other appointments, visitors, match-goers, spectators and so on will still be able to access the city centre. However people should expect some delays and should, in order to make things easier for themselves:

-         plan their journeys in advance (including checking and confirming appointments).
-         leave more time than usual for their journeys.
-         use public transport and park and ride facilities where possible.
-         and expect to complete some journeys on foot.

The Garda operation to date and that will continue for the next two weeks would not be possible without the help of:

-         the community
-         city centre businesses and traders
-         our colleagues in the Defence Forces
-         partner agencies including Government Depts, local authorities, the NRA, the health service.
-         the various public transport companies.

We thank them for their work to date and for their ongoing assistance.

In light of the security aspects of the policing operation, the overall situation remains fluid and some detail will still not be forthcoming until closer to Monday/Tuesday of next week. <_o3a_p>
