Gardaí at Henry Street are investigating a serious assault after a 22 year old man was found with serious injuries on Bank Place, Limerick City, shortly after 2.30am this morning, Friday 20th May 2011.
The man was taken to the Mid Western Regional Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
In a follow up investigation a 22 year old man was arrested on Limerick’s Northside this afternoon and is presently detained at Henry Street Garda Station under Section 4 of The Criminal Justice Act.
Investigating Gardaí are satisfied that people were present to witness the assault and they are asking them to contact Henry Street on 061 212400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
