Gardaí in Kildare have renewed their appeal for information in relation to the investigation into the abduction and false imprisonment of the wife of an official of an An Post worker from her home in Kildare on the 4th April 2011 and the false imprisonment of his family (2 children).
At 9.30pm on the 4th April 2011 a number of armed men entered a private residence in Fennore, Co Kildare. The wife of the official was taken from her home at approx 11pm the 4th April 2011. On the morning of the 5th April the An Post official was given instructions to drive to the GPO on <_st13a_street><_st13a_address>O Connell St. A demand was made that the An Post official obtain a sum of money from the institution and await instructions. <_o3a_p>
During the course of the morning, Gardaí became aware of the incident and a comprehensive response team was put in place involving both local and national units.<_o3a_p>
Just after 9.15 am on the 5th April 2011 the woman released herself and contact was made with the Gardai. She was physically uninjured.<_o3a_p>
Investigating Gardaí are particularly anxious to receive information on the following matters: <_o3a_p>
<_o3a_p>
- Any person who noticed any suspicious activity in the Lispopple area of Swords on the 4th of April 2011 between 11.30 pm and 9.30am on the 5th of April 2011 . A photograph of the derelict building where the woman was held is available on request from the Garda Press Office.
- Any person in the Borimhe Beeches area of Swords who noticed any unusual or suspicious activity between 11.30pm on the 4th of April 2011 and 9.30am on the 5th of April. In particular any person who noticed a Silver Mercedes Car Registration number 11-D-13049 being parked or saw any person in close proximity to the Mercedes.<_o3a_p>
- Any person who noticed any activity in any of these two areas, Lispopple Swords or Borimhe Beeches Swords during the 12 week period leading up to the 4th of April 2011.<_o3a_p>
