The largest horse fair of 2011 is scheduled to take place in Smithfield on Sunday, the 6th March 2011.
As Dublin City Council has commenced work on Smithfield Plaza as part of the Smithfield Quarter Enhancement Scheme over 50% of the space normally occupied by the Horse Fair will not be available on Sunday 6th March 2011.
An Garda Síochána wish to inform patrons attending the event that there will be traffic restrictions in the area and parking will be severely curtailed.
For those persons not attending, but likely to be in the area, there is a likelihood of delays and traffic restrictions in the immediate vicinity of the Fair.
Residents and businesses in the area are also advised that due to the restricted space available and the Garda Operation, traffic restrictions will be in place for most of the day.
The works to Smithfield Plaza are scheduled to continue for several more months and will result in disruption to the holding of the Horse Fair for this period.
