Fatal road traffic collision in Athlone, Westmeath on the 16/3/11

Gardai in Athlone are investigating the circumstances of a fatal collision in Athlone, today the 16th March 2011 at approx 3.15pm.

The collision occurred at Costume Place known locally as “ Town Bridge” Athlone, the collision involved a tractor and a pedestrian. The pedestrian was fatally injured (80 year old)and was pronounced dead at scene.

The road is closed and diversions are in place. It  will remain closed for a number of hours . Forensic Collision investigators are at scene.
