Fraud investigation in to welfare claims on the 14/7/11 - Court appearances

As part of an ongoing investigation into fraudulent welfare claims Detectives from the Garda Bureau of Fraud Investigation and Inspectors from the Department of Social Protection searched a number of houses in the north and west Dublin areas this morning (14/7/2011).

Two people have appeared in court this afternoon, the 14th July, charged in relation fraudulent welfare claims.  A man in his mid 30's and a woman in her 40's, were released on bail to re-appear next week at the Dublin District Court.


A third person, a 19 year old man, is due to appear at Blanchardstown District Court at 10.30 a.m. on the 15th of July 2011.

 
Two others, a man in his 20's and a woman in her 40's, have been released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

As part of an ongoing investigation into fraudulent welfare claims Detectives from the Garda Bureau of Fraud Investigation and Inspectors from the Department of Social Protection searched a number of houses in the north and west Dublin areas this morning (14/7/2011).

During the searches a large number of documents were seized and five people were arrested. 
 

Three males (aged in their late teens, 20's & 30's) and 2 females (aged in their 20's & 40's) are currently detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at various Dublin Garda Stations.
