Gardai investigating the activities of dissident Republicans have this evening (7/7/2011) arrested two males and recovered firearms & ammunition.
As part of a planned operation detectives from the Special Detective Unit carried out a search of a house in the South inner city area of Dublin. During the search 3 firearms and an assortment of ammunition (subject to technical examination) were recovered. Two men aged in their 40's and 20's were arrested.
They are currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939, at Shankill and Kevin Street Garda Stations.
The investigation is ongoing.
