Two men are expected to appear at a special sitting of the Special Criminal Court at the Criminal Courts of Justice, Parkgate Street, this afternoon, the 9th July 2011, charged in relation to the discovery of firearms on the 7th of July.

Gardai investigating the activities of dissident Republicans have this evening (7/7/2011) arrested two males and recovered firearms & ammunition.
As part of a planned operation detectives from the Special Detective Unit carried out a search of a house in the South inner city area of Dublin. During the search 3 firearms and an assortment of ammunition (subject to technical examination) were recovered. Two men aged in their 40s and 20s were arrested.
They are currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939, at Shankill and Kevin St. Garda Stations.
