The Assistant State Pathologist Margaret Bolster has commenced the postmortems of the deceased following this mornings tragic event in Cork (previous release below refers).

The deceased are all male, one is a Spanish national, 3 are residents of Northern Ireland, and 2 are resident elsewhere in the UK.

The process of formal identification of the deceased will take some further time as relatives and families make their way to Cork.

This is a difficult and traumatic time for families and while we appreciate the great level of interest in this mornings tragic incident we would ask that you respect the privacy and grief of the families to the greatest extent possible.

An Garda Siochána will release the identities of the deceased as soon as the relatives have all been informed and formal identification is complete.  This is unlikely to be before tomorrow.
