Gardaí at Ballymote are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred at approximately 5.30pm this evening, Sunday 13th February 2011, on the N17 between Tubercurry and Charlestown.
A 30 year old male motorcyclist was taken to Sligo General Hospital after the motorcycle he was riding was in collision with a car.
He was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later.
The road at the scene of the collision is closed at present to facilitate a forensic collision investigation. It is likely to be closed until tomorrow afternoon.
Diversions are in place.
